Colusa County takes over murder case
Paradise woman’s body discovered last week
Murder charges were filed in Colusa County in a case in which a Paradise woman’s body was found in Colusa County.
Cooperation among three regional law enforcement agencies led to the arrest of a man believed to be responsible for the death of Lisa Marie Madrid, 52. Her body was found on Harbison Road the morning of June 29.
Daniel Albert Robleto, 54, of Paradise was arrested on suspicion of Madrid’s murder and booked into Butte County Jail.
Colusa County District Attorney Matthew R. Beauchamp announced this week charges will be filed in Colusa County instead of Butte County.
Both the victim and suspect in the case lived in Paradise; Robleto’s residence is thought to be the crime scene.
“I understand the reasons why the Paradise Police Department wished to proceed with prosecution in Butte County; however, my main reason for proceeding in Colusa County is logistical,” Beauchamp said in a press release. “Because of the location of the body in Colusa County, the physical evidence obtained and the extensive investigation performed by Colusa County law enforcement in three counties, the appropriate location to venue the case is Colusa County.”
Butte County District Attorney Michael L. Ramsey declined to comment.
A representative from the Colusa County District Attorney’s office confirmed the murder charges have been filed in Colusa County.
Robleto was arrested June 30 after police discovered what appeared to be a crime scene at Robleto’s home in Paradise. Clearlake police officers helped apprehend Robleto during a traffic stop in Lake County; Robleto was then transported to the Butte County Jail.
It’s uncertain when Robleto will be transferred to the Colusa County Jail.
