Editor’s note: Welcome to the Appeal-democrat’s Family and Friends section. We’d like to invite you to participate.

We’re pleased to present a place for members of our community to show their pride. This is the place where we’ll feature community news submitted by readers.

Previously, this sort of news was buried inside a section or spread throughout the week. Now, we’ll feature big events (weddings, major anniversaries, engagements, etc.) on the front of a section and with color photos (as provided).

We’ll include just about any news that readers submit that has some local connection – Little League standings, birthdays, new grandkids, four- and five-generation photos, ribbon-cutting ceremonies, club notes ... you name it.

We ask the following of those submitting news:

Please submit your infor- mation as soon as possible. We publish milestone events first, and everything else on a first-come, first-served basis and as room is available.

Our staff will be able to spend very little time editing this material; we ask that you edit your own stories, check spelling and take special care with names.
