YCUSD board expected to decide on Whiteaker’s future tonight
supervisor.
Tonight’s board meeting will also discuss a number of other unrelated issues. Closed session begins at 5:30 p.m., with open session beginning at 7 p.m., though public comment on closed session items will be taken before the board recesses into closed session.
Superintendent Doreen Osumi said in an email Monday that if the board approves the statement of charges, the district will then serve the statement. The teacher would receive a copy of the charges and have 30 days to request a hearing before a panel of three individuals: an administrative law judge and two individuals that meet specific legal requirements, including teaching experience in the same subject as the teacher being dismissed.
If a hearing is requested, the panel will decide if the teacher should be dismissed. The panel has up to six months to schedule the hearing, Osumi said.
