Photographers wanted for ‘Another Day in the Life of Yuba-sutter’ photo project
A book that captured a 24-hour, visual slice of Yuba-sutter life is coming back.
The “Day in the Life of Yuba-sutter” project featured 90 photographers who had captured a variety of images from throughout the area in 2015, which were later compiled into a book.
“It’s a cool community project and fundraiser that puts more money back into youth programs and supports schools and other programs through Rotary scholarships,” said Yuba Sutter Arts Executive Director David Read. “It’s been a couple years, we have fun doing it and it was so popular that we thought a spring version would resonate with the community.”
The South Yuba County Rotary Club and Yuba Sutter Arts, the project sponsors, are inviting people to sign up to be contributing photographers for “Another Day in the Life of Yuba-sutter.”
“We’re encouraging as many people to sign up as possible,” Read said. “Community service clubs, Beale personnel and schools can request to have the fee waved because we want everyone to take part in it.”
The entry fee to submit up to ten photographs for the book is now $30. The book will cost less than $40 and the images will also be displayed at the Yuba Sutter Arts gallery in June.
The 30-hour time window for photography will take place between noon, Friday, March 16 and 6 p.m., Saturday, March 17.
“We have a little longer time frame so people can capture more images and we’ve got some great events with the Bok Kai Festival and St. Patrick’s Day that weekend,” Read said. “We want to get things like Bullards Bar Dam and other major infrastructure in the area – as much representation as possible.”
Read said they’re hoping to have 100 photographers participate and each photographer will have at least one image published in the book.
“We want to see the beauty and grandeur of Yuba-sutter, interesting aspects of our region’s infrastructure, photos of your work day, any other special events or fundraisers

occurring on that day and most importantly: people; in everyday situations, posed or candid, at work, people from all walks of life,” Read said in an email. “We want to create a visual time capsule of the community and show it off to the world.”
