What does liberty look like? To me it looks like a road. You are going along all good and enjoying yourself, but here comes Big Government. They start their stuff. Closing the road, making you shift gears, go this way, do this, do that. No driving along carefree now. At every turn you have to do it their way.

How? More taxes, more regulations, more foolish laws, more hassle. You just buckle and give them more, more and more of your life. I am so tired. How about you?

The solution is very easy. State of Jefferson 51, SOJ51, is asking you to sign a petition to put us back on the road to liberty. What? Just sign my name? You have got to be kidding. I don’t have to go to meetings – I don’t have to learn how government works – I can just continue on my life being hit on every side by the new taxes. Oh great.

There is a petition to create the 51st State of Jefferson. We the People: Your voice in our government. A new feature at the Whitehouse.gov. We are asking for your support and would like for you to read the petition and sign it. We need 99,999 signatures by March 12. The White House will review and respond.

We the People allows anyone to create and sign petitions asking the White House to take action on any range of issues. If a petition gets enough support the White House will issue an official response. So here is how you do this one simple act and we can get on another road.
