Through two games at the Sutter Spring Classic, the Gridley High baseball team has asserted its presence with a pair of lopsided victories, combining a potent offense with stellar pitching performances.

A day after Jace Villapania pitched four hitless innings in a 13-0 win over Lindhurst, Lance Santerre threw a five inning complete game and surrendered a single hit in an 11-0 win over Marysville on Tuesday.

The junior lefty only gave up a pair of walks and struck out 10 in the win.

Santerre was immediately backed up by his offense, as the Bulldogs scored three runs in the first inning. The Bulldogs scored at least one run in every inning and effectively shut the door with a 4-run fourth inning.

Ty Cota was 2 for 3 with a stolen base, Brian Wilkerson was 1 for 2 with a pair of RBIS, Robert Peters was 1 for 3 with an RBI and a stolen base, and Conner Alexander was 1 for 3 with a double.

Morgun Goss’ sole hit for the Indians kept the team from falling victim to a no-hit performance.

The Indians quickly rebounded in the afternoon game, a 7-0 win over Durham.

Devon Conway pitched 6 2/3 innings, giving up three hits and striking out seven. He also backed up his performance with a 2-for-4 performance at the plate and scored a run.

Justin Walsh and Job Stout each had 2-RBI triples and went 1 for 3 and 2 for 4, respectively.

Dominic Crabtree was 3 for 4 with an RBI and a run scored and Goss was 3 for 4 with a runsscored.
