Lynch’s brother suits up for 49ers

-

Davonte Lynch stood on the 49ers home field in a red, No. 33 jersey and admitted Wednesday it was an odd look. After all, his older brother, Marshawn, plays up the road for the Bay Area’s other team, the Lynch family’s hometown Raiders.

“Growing up in Oakland, you feel me, it’s always been kind of a rivalry with the Niners,” Davonte said after an hour workout for local draft prospects. “But at this point of my life, it’s like, I’d be honored to play for the 49ers.”

He played collegiately for New Mexico Highlands from 2015-16 after transferring from Contra Costa College, and he believes his size (5-foot-7, 188 pounds) may be why NFL teams have overlooked him. As for his running style, it’s not Beast Mode 2.0. “I run with kind of a wide base kind of like him to stay under control, but our styles are pretty much completely different,” Davonte Lynch said. “He’s ‘Beast Mode,’ he’s looking for some contact. For me, I might try to miss a little of that, to be honest.”

Their mother, Delisa, helped get the word out to the 49ers via Twitter last month that they should take a look at her younger son: “Hey let me know if you need a RB i got one for you close!! My baby boi.” Her baby boy appreciated that. “She’s my biggest supporter and wants the best for me,” Davonte said. “She wanted somebody to notice and see she doesn’t just have one son, she’s got another one.”
