Six of the nine Allen siblings wrote about their mother, Esther Allen: “My Mom is a great teacher in both school and in the Lord. She homeschools us well, is a great mom and she is almost always serious. She is good at teaching us things about singing like never say I when you are singing. I love my mom.” Elizabeth Allen, 9.

“My mother is wonderful in so many ways. She loves us and puts up with us every day. She teaches us to sing and play piano and violin. She also coaches us in tennis. I love my mom!” Anna Allen, 11.

“My mom is God fearing, has good judgment and loves all her children equally. I admire her talent in singing and playing the piano I want to be a great mother like her one day.” Abigail Allen, 11.

“My Mother is the most patient and loving Mom in the world. She has nine children and is homeschooling each one. She is the greatest and we all love her. I am very blessed to have her as my Mom.” Jonathan Allen, 12.

“My mother is a truthful and God fearing person. She has taught me to be a God fearing person too.” Jude Allen, 13.

“My mother is the most perfect person on the planet. She chooses to stay home and teach me and my siblings when she could be off doing something fun like world traveling. Because of her perseverance, I learned to read and write at an early age. My mother is wonderful.” Eli Allen, 15.

Three other Allen children are too young to write.

“The kids are homeschooled and when I showed them the poem contest in the paper, my oldest daughter wanted to make it a class project,” Esther Allen said. “I said they didn’t have to submit it to the paper but it would be an assignment.

“It made me think of the Bible verse, ‘Her children rise up and call her blessed; Her husband also, and he praises her,’” Allen said. “That’s where your acknowledgment comes from as a mother.”
