Sutter and Wheatland High’s track and field teams battled a stiff wind while competing at the four-school Butte View League Championships on Friday at Orland High.

The Huskies’ varsity girls team braved the elements the best and won their second straight league title by recording 98 points to beat second-place Orland’s total of 56.

Leading the way for Sutter were Savannah Bailey and Mia Ashby, both of whom won three individual events. Bailey swept the sprints by winning the 100 (13.10 seconds), 200 (27.50) and the 400 (1:01.89), while Ashby swept the distance events by winning the 800 (2:37), 1,600 (5:57) and the 3,200 (12:59)

Bailey and Ashby were also a part of the winning 4x400 relay team along with Kayla Page and Lily Patrick that clocked in a time of 4 minutes, 25 seconds.

Also earning ALL-BVL honors by winning events for the Huskies was Hannah Riley, who took first in both the triple jump (30 feet, 4½ inches) and the high jump (5-0), while also placing third in the long jump (15-3¾).

Finishing second for Sutter were Kaylynne Turner in the 100 hurdles (20.52), Page in the 800 (2:45), Patrick in the 1,600 (6:28), Sara Ashby in the 3,200 (14:36), Sara Filter in the discus (85-6) and Indica Curry in the pole vault (5-6).

The Pirates’ 4x100 relay team of Stacey Baeza, Benita Cordero, Taila Mooremckelvy and Mia Garcia also also finished first in 54.10.
