Recovery funding available for those affected by Cascade Fire
For those affected by the Cascade Fire in Loma Rica last fall, here’s another opportunity to be set up with some recovery funding.
The Golden State Finance Authority donated $96,805 to be distributed by a grant committee, according to Yuba County. GSFA develops and administers programs that provide a source of financing for residential home purchases or refinancing, as well as projects for city and county infrastructure improvements.
The grants will be distributed in amounts up to $2,500 per household on a first come, first served basis. An application will soon be available to anyone who lost property as a result of the fire, and will be posted at www.cascadefire.org and mailed to those who have left contact information with Yuba County Community Development of the Office of Emergency Services.
There are some who were displaced by the fire and have not notified the county of their current address; those residents should get the application online or send an email to Yuba County Information Officer Russ Brown at rbrown@co.yuba. ca.us and request to receive an application, as soon as it is available.
The grant committee is made up of a Yuba County team involved in the emergency response to the Cascade Fire, the county said. They will review each application and score the responses, in terms of how applicants responded to the questions. The amount of funding is generous but still limited, so it is important to complete applications and submit them as soon as possible.
All who submit applications will receive a letter after a few weeks, indicating whether or not they were awarded funds.
The Yuba Fire Safe Council is hosting two wildlife preparedness community meetings, 9 open to the public on Saturday, June 9. One will be from 10 a.m. to noon at the Loma Rica Calfire Station (11485 Loma Rica Road); the second is from 2 p.m.- 4 p.m. at the volunteer fire station in Brownsville (11790 Brownsville Road).
