Lady Gold Sox tryouts Sunday

The Lady Gold Sox 16U travel softball team will hold tryouts for the upcoming season on Sunday at Yuba City High’s varsity softball field.

Pitchers and catchers will try out at 11 a.m., and position players will try out at noon.

Players are asked to arrive 20 minutes early for registration. The team is for players born from 20012003.

OAKLAND – The fourth installment started out as compelling as the first three.

The rest of the league might be tired of the Warriors and the Cavaliers in the NBA Finals. Yet, the Warriors and Cavaliers produced enough drama to keep the storylines fresh.

The Warriors won Game 1 on Thursday night, beating the Cavs in overtime 124-114 despite 51 points by Lebron James.

The Warriors opened overtime with a 12-2 run. Kevin Durant made a pair of foul shots. Klay Thompson sank a 3-pointer. Shaun Livingston added an oldschool three-point play, making the free throw after being fouled on a throw-down dunk. When Draymond Green hit a 3, it was 119-110 with 1:39 left.

More theatrics happened just before the end of the game. Stephen Curry and James started jawing, soon to be joined by Klay Thompson. Then, when Livingston put up a shot in the closing seconds – the shot clock was about to expire – Cleveland center Tristan Thompson took a run at him.

Tristan Thompson was immediately ejected, but it wasn’t over yet. Draymond Green approached Thompson and began clapping his hands in Thompson’s face. Thompson pushed the ball into Green’s face and only cool heads – by Draymond, no less – kept things from getting out of hand.
