Two Oregon House residents died after their vehicle veered off the roadway and struck a tree Sunday night. One passenger – a 1-year-old boy – survived the crash and was flown to a hospital, the California Highway Patrol reported.

The cause of the collision is under investigation, the CHP said.

The dead were identified by the Yuba County Sheriff’s Office on Monday afternoon as Ilya Koloyartsev, 27, and Jennifer Coffey, 31.

The collision occurred at about 5:45 p.m. Sunday on Marysville Road west of Yuba Ranch Way, near Oregon House. The couple’s Subaru Outback had reportedly left the roadway, struck a tree and came to rest on its wheels, according to a CHP press release.

Koloyartsev was driving the vehicle and Coffey was in the front passenger seat, both wearing their seatbelts, the CHP release said. They were pronounced dead at the scene by first responders.

The child – who was secured in a child safety seat on the left rear passenger side of the vehicle – suffered moderate injuries and was flown to UC Davis Medical Center for treatment.

A CHP Yuba-sutter officer said there were no new updates to the investigation or the child’s condition as of Monday afternoon.

Assisting the CHP in the response were Calfire, Dobbins/oregon House Fire Protection District, the Yuba County Sheriff’s Office, Bicounty Ambulance and Reach Air Medical Services.
