Car show to raise funds for cancer patients

The event is scheduled for Saturday at the Valley Muffler Shop – 870 Forbes Ave. #C, Yuba City – between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Kopping said she is expecting more than 100 classic cars to participate in the show this year.

“The event is free to the public. Anyone with a classic car that they want to show off is welcome. We have an awesome raffle with prizes donated from businesses around the community; we will have a delicious tri-tip sandwich for lunch. It’s all free, but we just ask for donations because that’s how we raise money to give to the cancer center,” Kopping said.

All proceeds from the event go to the Rideout Health Foundation’s Cancer Center Fund. Kopping said the funds will assist local cancer patients in various ways through a variety of programs.

Kopping’s father, Bill Hill, started the event 19 years ago when his father died from cancer. It started as a way to show appreciation for the company’s customers, Kopping said, but has since morphed into an annual fundraiser to assist local cancer patients.

“For us, this event is really important because we want to give back to the community that we’ve been in for so long,” Kopping said.
