O-L major all-stars take home District 2 title

Olivehurst-linda Little League’s major softball all-star team took home the District 2 championsh­ip with a 10-1 victory over Sutter Buttes on Monday night in Colusa.

Ella Peterson, Kendall Harris and Hallie Prather each smacked two hits to lead the way at the plate for Olivehurst-linda, which finished the tournament with a perfect 4-0 record. Peterson also tripled and scored once, Harris had an RBI and scored twice, and Prather drove in a run and scored once in the victory.

Danni Farris allowed only two hits to earn the win in the circle.

Olivehurst-linda will next compete at the sectional tournament at Degarmo Park in Chico. Their first game is scheduled for July 6 at 6 p.m.

Natalie Buzzini went 2 for 3 with a triple, double and an RBI to lead the way for Sutter Buttes, which finished 4-2 at the tournament with both of its losses coming to O-L. Sutter Buttes 7, Sutter Area 3 Sutter Buttes advanced to the championsh­ip round with a victory over Sutter Area in an eliminatio­n game on Sunday night.

Mariah Rosales hit a two-run triple, and Avery Arnold went 2 for 3 with an RBI and two runs scored to lead the way offensivel­y, while Natalie Buzzini struck out nine batters to notch the win.

Megan O’neal finished 2 for 4 with a run scored for Sutter Area.
