Gold Sox blown out by Klamath Falls again

- Appeal-democrat

After falling behind 6-0 in the first inning the night before, the Yuba-sutter Gold Sox flipped the script on the Klamath Falls Gems on Wednesday night by jumping out to a 3-0 lead in their first trip to the plate.

Unfortunately for the Gold Sox, the lead didn’t last very long.

Scoring seemingly at will, the Gems promptly struck for the next 15 runs of the game to hand Yuba-sutter a lopsided 17-6 loss and take Game 2 of a three-game series at Colusa Casino Stadium in Marysville.

Klamath Falls finished the game with 20 hits after recording 12 in a 13-5 win over the Gold Sox on Tuesday night. Wednesday also marked the 10th time this season the Gold Sox have allowed 10 runs or more in a game.

Josh Winkler had a sacrifice fly, Angel Mora hit an RBI double and Jacob Terao drove in a run with a single in the first inning for the Gold Sox, who didn’t score again until they trailed 15-3 in the sixth.

Klamath Falls put up a run in the second, four in the third, five in the fourth, two in the fifth and three in the sixth before Mora hit another RBI double to get the Sox back on the scoreboard.

The Gems tacked on another two runs in the seventh, but saw their six-inning scoring streak end when they went down in order in the eighth.

Trailing 17-4, Tyler Stewart hit an RBI groundout and Billy Moreland lined an RBI single in the eighth to complete the scoring for Yuba-sutter.

Mora finished with four hits and Winkler had three for the Gold Sox, who had nine in the Chico Medford Lincoln Klamath Falls San Francisco
