Duplicate Bridge June winners

In the month of June, there were four regular games, one club championsh­ip game, two North American Pairs games, one Alzheimers fund raiser, and a once a year Memorial Game in Chico. All games are now played in Marysville at St. John’s Episcopal Church on Monday and Thursdays at 12:30 pm

On June 4th, a regular game and the winners were: First - Don Johnson & Alan Ludwig Second - Dan O’broclyn & Rich Shipley and Third - Mary Mayfield & Carol Nelson.

On June 7th, another regular game and the winners were: First - Dan O’broclyn & Steve Kaesnner Second - Mary Mayfield & Rich Shipley Third - Don Johnson & Mark Bloom Fourth - Tom Frye & Kathy Peterson and Fifth - Ramon Lopez & Alan Ludwig.

On June 11th, another regular game and the winners were: First - Steve Kaessner & Dan O’broclyn Second - Joanne Murdock & Don Johnson Third - Mary Mayfield & Pat Pommerenck and Fourth Rich Shipley & Jerry Fishell.

On June 14th there was a Club Championsh­ip game and the winners were: First - Johnnie Houser & Alan Ludwig Second - Dan O’broclyn & Jerry Fishell and Third Don Johnson & Ramon Lopez.

On June 18th the next regular game and the winners were: First Carol Nelson & Kathy Peterson Second - Don Johnson & Rich Shipley and Third Alan Ludwig & Ramon Lopez.

On the 21st the local Bridge Club joined THE LONGEST DAY and had a fund raiser for Alzheimers. The winners were: First Don Johnson & Alan Ludwig Second - Kathy Peterson & Ramon Lopez and Third - Mary Mayfield & Fred Till.

On June 25th and 28th there were ACBL (American Contract Bridge League) qualifiers for winners to get compensati­on to go to the National Pair Event. This event has players from all over the United States competing. All players did qualify and the winners on the 25th were: First - Jamie Newman & Ron Jauch (visitors from Nevada City) Second - Dan O’broclyn & Patti Damron Third - Norma & Rich Hayes and Fourth Mary Mayfield & Ramon Lopez. The winners om the 28th were: First - Don Johnson & Alan Ludwig Second - Tom Frye & Rich Shipley and Third - Mary Mayfield & Joanne Murdock.

On Sunday the 24th, bridge players from Chico and Yuba City gathered at Butte Creek Country Club for the annual Mo Shagrun Memorial Game. Several local players did well in the event where there were 12 tables in play. Coming in Second overall was Mary Mayfield & Carol Bergholdt - Fourth Overall was Joanne Murdock & Gloria Shagrun and Seventh overall was Pat Pommerenck & Johnnie Houser. Coming in first in “C” was Kathy Peterson & Ramon Lopez.
