Final numbers released for July marijuana bust

“Due to the nature of our watershed systems in Yuba County, the environmental damage that begins in the mountains and foothills of Yuba County has significant impacts into other portions of California,” according to the release. “During the operation, a significant number of environmental crimes were discovered.”

The department receives annual grant money from the federal Drug Enforcement Agency through the Domestic Cannabis Eradication/suppression Program, which funds the majority of marijuana investigative efforts by the sheriff’s office, according to the release.

This money was utilized exclusively for the Marijuana Eradication Team Yuba and funded the Green Wave operation. It funds overtime, equipment, aerial reconnaissance and ancillary costs associated with the operation. The department also receives funding from the U.S. Forest Service for marijuana eradication in the national forests located within Yuba County.

Those arrested in the bust were:

William Stonecipher, 31, of Brownsville, on suspicion of illegal cultivation, possessing a controlled substance, manufacturing a controlled substance and obstructing an officer.

Paul Swinbanks, 44, of Brownsville, on suspicion of illegal cultivation and criminal conspiracy.

Thomas Dailey, 66, of Nevada City, on suspicion of illegal cultivation and littering state water.

Raul Brana, 35, of Cuba, on suspicion of illegal cultivation and criminal conspiracy.

Connor Fountain, 25, of Oregon, on suspicion of illegal cultivation and criminal conspiracy.

William Tuer, 45, of Camptonville, on suspicion of illegal cultivation and criminal conspiracy.

Rocky Nguyen, 44, of Florence, on suspicion of illegal cultivation.

Son Cao, 49, of Bangor, on suspicion of illegal cultivation.

Trung Nguyen, 44, of San Jose, on suspicion of illegal cultivation.
