Re: Trade war

So, as we see from the front page article in today’s (Aug. 6) paper, some California farmers are waking up to the fact that the demagogue they voted for has lead them down a primrose path with his so-called trade war against China.

Oh! And the demagogue-in-chief, in a pathetic attempt to mollify some farmers, who are screaming “Hurt,” has put into place a direct cash payment to compensate for their losses due to China’s imposition of higher tariffs on their products. Of course the only farmers getting this largess are the grains farmers of the Midwest, as Trump plays to what he perceives as his core base of voters in that area of the country.

California? His biggest loss was here, consequently he is not about to do anything for California. So, our nut, wine, orange, and rice farmers are being hung out to dry, read, lose business.

If the deluded farmers had paid critical attention to the demagogue, had they paid attention to the fact that virtually every syllable out of his mouth was a lie, they might of see through his demagoguery, and not fallen for his cult-like appeal.

Had they been alert to his bloviating, they may have seen through his lying bluster, and perceived a man whose word was not to be trusted. Now it is too late, and our California farmers are caught between an out-of-control president who has stupidly picked the wrong war with China, and China who is retaliating by raising tariffs on our local produce.

I sincerely hope reason, and clear thinking prevail by the time of the November election.
