Arbuckle Tailgate Food Giveaway set for early September

- Appeal-democrat

The Community Action Agency of Butte County will be hosting a Tailgate Food Giveaway in Arbuckle in early September.

The event distributes fresh produce and other available food items that are available by season while supplies last and there will be representatives available to assist the public with information about other Community Action Agency programs.

Stephanie Powell, administrative assistant at Community Action Agency, said providing the food is a combined effort by the Arbuckle Family Action Center, the Community Action Agency’s North State Food Bank and California Emergency Foodlink of Sacramento.

Food insecurity in the area is huge, Powell said. The tailgates can provide assistance for people who need it. The organization also tends to focus on distribution in the summer because a lot of children get their meals from school during the school year, but that isn’t always available during the summer.

“With the tailgate distribution, that can help make up for that lack of resources,” Powell said.

No proof of income is required.

The Tailgate Food Giveaway will be at the Family Action Center, 812 King St., Arbuckle, on Sept. 7 from 9 a.m.-noon.
