Authorities find $50K in stolen property while investigating moving company
of money. The second victim reported he moved from Lancaster to Washington state, but his property never arrived after he paid the company.
The information provided to the sheriff’s office led investigators to a storage unit in the 5000 block of Chestnut Road in Olivehurst.
“Investigators with the sheriff’s department obtained a search warrant of the storage unit and located the property of both victims, as well as property for two additional victims,” said Leslie Carbah, spokesperson for the sheriff’s office, in a press release.
Similar cases are also under investigation on the East Coast. The sheriff’s office referred the embezzlement case to the FBI and U.S. Attorney’s Office for prosecution.
Attempts to reach a representative of Flagship Van Lines were unsuccessful Wednesday as the number provided on the company’s website has been disconnected.
