Re: Marysville support
I moved here from Placer County two years ago. My former hometown, Lincoln, was once (not too many years ago) a small farming opportunity, much like Marysville is today. It is now a large city that has lost the hometown feel it once enjoyed. That is what this is about and why I feel compelled to write this letter.
Obviously I am concerned about and care about the welfare of our community. However, this is about the city of Marysville in particular.
I had an opportunity to hear Marysville Police Chief Chris Sachs speak. He talked about all the programs, volunteers and support team Marysville has that carried out so many selfless efforts to make a safe and vibrant community.
Two things that really stood out and why I am commenting is: 1.) How Marysville, while seriously under-funded, has what many other larger communities don’t have, a cohesive “small-town” where everyone cares about their neighborhood because they can really get to know each other. Larger communities, while financially strong, many times, lose that neighborly connection that is so important. This is reflected in the support system that works every day, along with many unpaid volunteers who truly care about Marysville, their hometown. 2.) To that end, one of the most supportive companies that stood out is Frank M Booth, Marysville. This company has supported and donated financially to Marysville and has shown that they care. I just want to say, as a citizen of this community (District 10) thank you so much for everything you have done and continue to do for Marysville.
I know other companies have supported Marysville, thank you so much. The city of Marysville, especially the Marysville Police Department, I know, would appreciate other companies, many generational, supporting and continuing to support our/their community as well.
While compensations may not be comparable to some other counties, I am hopeful benefits and retirements make up any disparity.
