Yuba-sutter officials reflect on the local impact of bills

Implementing a longterm plan to address homelessness is one of the county’s top priorities, said Chuck Smith, spokesman for Sutter County. For the first time, the recently enacted state budget provides more than $700 million to help local governments and entities combat the issue.

Another action that will have a local impact is a bill authored by Assemblyman James Gallagher, a Republican from Yuba City. Smith said Assembly Bill 1270, which was signed by the governor earlier this year, will help strengthen inspection and reporting requirements for California dam operators.
