Mar ysville man accused of assault with intent to rape, kidnapping
A Marysville man was arrested Sunday after allegedly kidnapping a woman he knew and attempting to force her to have sex with him.
Nathaniel Paul Nichols, 23, was arrested by the Yuba County Sheriff’s Office on suspicion of assault with intent to commit rape, burglary and kidnapping.
The charges stem from an incident that reportedly occurred on the afternoon of Sept. 7.
Nichols had previously been given notice to vacate the house he was living in on Hile Avenue in Linda. Last Friday, he returned to the house with the victim to retrieve some personal property.
“The suspect tried to coerce the victim into having sex, she declined, but he picked her up and carried her to the bedroom where he attempted to force sex despite her refusal,” said Yuba County Sheriff’s spokesperson Leslie Carbah.
The burglary charge was added due to Nichols entering the dwelling he had been told to vacate with the intent of committing a felony, Carbah said.
