Yuba County supervisors briefed on how proposed sales tax funds would be spent
services and economic development, the district attorney’s office and the probation department.
Supervisor Doug Lofton said he felt funding essential services was a vital component of the measure. Bendorf said a lack of infrastructure has been an issue for the county when it has come to development opportunities in the past, so an additional funding source would help the county apply for grants and provide the local match needed to receive state funding.
Supervisor Gary Bradford thanked staff for putting together estimates of how the funding would be broken down.
“It’s very important for voters to see how the county proposes to use the money, should the measure pass,” he said.
Voters in the unincorporated part of the county will have an opportunity to vote on Measure K on Nov. 6. If passed by a majority of voters, the sales tax increase would have a sunset clause of 10 years.
