CATTLE DRIVE

-

Street, a band from Wheatland High School will be performing as the cattle drive passes by.

Five floats, created by students from Future Farmers of America clubs at Yuba City, River Valley, Sutter, Marysville and Wheatland high schools will follow the Twin Cities Cattle Drive.

Thursday marks the official kick off party at Geweke Ford in Yuba City and Sillman said local artist Joe Moye wrote a song for Cotton Rosser and will perform it that evening.

Friday is the Kid’s Rodeo, a non-public event, in which hundreds of local students get a glimpse at an abbreviated version of the Marysville Stampede.

Saturday at 5 p.m. the Marysville Stampede gets going and Sillman said despite all the construction in and around the Fifth Street Bridge, the show will go on.

“Come on down, people, because we will have Marysville firefighters directing traffic and a shuttle that holds 25 people taking them to and from the arena,” she said. “We call the shuttle ‘Dolly’ and she’ll be there to help people if they don’t want to walk.”

Dolly originally came from the Dollywood theme park in Tennessee, and was later used at the Cow Palace in San Francisco before a tree fell on it.

“The Cow Palace donated it to the Stampede so we brought it to Recology where the crew fixed her all up. She’s getting a wrap on her now so she’ll be ready to go for the Stampede,” Sillman said.

The Stampede continues on Sunday, but starts earlier at 3:30 p.m.
