Another Raiders breakdown: 3 plays that sealed their fate in loss to Dolphins
MIAMI – Marshawn Lynch spoke to Bay Area media for the first time in 372 days, and he brought a trash can with him.
The Raiders’ running back placed the bin in between himself and reporters and told them, “don’t cross my barrier.”
While symbolic of Lynch’s desire to keep recorders and cameras and hands as far away as possible, it’s impossible to ignore the “trash” puns after the Raiders fell to 0-3 with a 28-20 loss to the Dolphins.
For the third consecutive week, the Raiders led at halftime. Again, like clockwork, the Raiders allowed that cushion to slip away.
Let’s take a look at three fourthquarter plays that proved detrimental in the latest Raiders breakdown.
With 8:22 left in the game, Derek Carr threw incomplete on a 3rd-and-7 deep pass intended for Amari Cooper. Rookie Johnny Townsend trotted out for his third punt of the day – the first traveled 33 yards to the Oakland 35-yard line and the second 54 yards to the Miami 15-yard line – and booted a dud.
Townsend’s punt took an antiraiders bounce and was downed by Erik Harris at the Miami 30yard line. The Dolphins rode their momentum off the terrible punt to seven points in short order.
Ryan Tannehill scrambled for 18 yards on the first play of the drive, setting up the play of the game. Tannehill handed off to Jared Cook of the Oakland Raiders rushes for yardage during the third quarter against the Miami Dolphins at Hard Rock Stadium on Sunday in Miami, Florida.
