NEWARK, N.J. – A third period to forget ended the Sharks fivegame road trip on a sour note.

The New Jersey Devils scored twice in the final frame, ripping two points out of the Sharks hands with a 3-2 win. As a result, the Sharks completed their road trip with a 2-21 record.

Mirco Mueller, the Sharks 2013 first-round pick, got revenge on his former-team, setting up the game-winning goal scored by Johnsebastien Dea with a shot from the left circle. The Sharks traded Mueller to the Devils for a pair of draft picks in June 2017. Mueller is now a top-pairing defenseman with the Devils.

Palmieri, who’s tallied six goals on the year, scored the Devils first goal in the second on a 5 on 3 power play. He also scored the tying goal, jamming in a rebound from the doorstep.

Joe Pavelski became just the fifth player in NHL history drafted later than No. 200 to record 700-career points. Pavelski opened the scoring at 3:51 of the second by slamming the rebound of Brent Burns’ shot from the right point, scoring his third goal of the season. Evander Kane picked up the primary assists.

Timo Meier scored the Sharks second goal at 15:35 of the second, bulling his way to the net to punch in a pass from Logan Couture after he started the Sharks rush by forcing a neutral zone turnover. With his goal Sunday, San Jose Sharks’ center Joe Pavelski made a little bit of history.
