Re: The homeless and the Sutter County Board of Supervisors

Why are you creating a homeless shelter on the grounds of a government building? Haven’t you seen the result of the homeless population at the Civic Center in San Francisco, especially when homeless will be adding to the population as they migrate from Yuba and Sacramento counties.

In San Francisco, daily, they must power wash the syringe needles, fecal material, urine and garbage.

Apparently, the services at that building are not moving to the other facilities? How are you going to protect your employees, clients and their property? You will need to increase any security on a maximum effort. Cars will be broken into, employees and clients will have to be escorted back and forth to the building for their safety, a police presence will be necessary to keep drug dealers, prostitutes, fights, drug use, and the general protection of the homeless and the staff from the mentally disturbed. Are you furnishing the homeless with a shower, bathroom, heat and air conditioning? If not, they will be invading the government facilities at every opportunity just to enjoy the bathroom, heat and air, and begging for food and money.

If the staff is moved, the homeless will want to squat in the building. Are you hiring an expensive private company to come in and care for these people? If not, do you expect the current staff to absorb the conditions? This sounds very expensive and the price will increase in the future. Are you hiring the numerous, expensive administrators for the care of the homeless? I heard we were broke and you’re putting in upper management instead of workers to do the brunt of the soon to be increasing population of our neediest groups. Who talked you into doing this move? Are they insane, or just some of them? I think I would be finding a solution for the grand jury problem and its potential lawsuits, and possible criminal cases, than creating new problems and no-man zones.

Is this why the grand jury quit en masse or was their illegal activities regarding the choosing of the site, company, etc.? What’s going on with the grand jury’s report from last year? It’s starting to smell rotten.
