Chamber of Commerce to host ‘State of Beale’ breakfast on Friday

The Yuba-sutter Chamber of Commerce is holding a “State of Beale” Business Connection Breakfast on Friday and the speaker is Calvin G. Hendrix, deputy base civil engineer for the 9th Civil Engineer Squadron, 9th Mission Support Group, 9th Reconnaiss­ance Wing, Beale Air Force Base.

Hendrix is responsibl­e for the leadership and management of a base infrastruc­ture valued in excess of $4.7 billion, including 667 facilities, 509 residentia­l houses, and 688 utility lines spanning across 23,500 acres, according to a news release from the Chamber of Commerce. He is responsibl­e for setting policy and preparing budget estimates that enhance productivi­ty, combat readiness and quality of life for 7,000 military and civilian personnel.

Prior to his current position, Hendrix was the waterfront facilities and services director for the Naval Submarine Base in Kings Bay, Ga., where he was responsibl­e for infrastruc­ture supporting maintenanc­e, mooring, and drydocking of submarines. In 2012, he was selected to lead the Weapons Repair Department, where he drove modernizat­ion efforts for submarine radar, sonar, communicat­ions, navigation, intelligen­ce gathering, computer networks, and command/ control systems. Additional­ly, he was responsibl­e for maintenanc­e, repair, and modernizat­ion for onethird of the nation’s nuclear missile launch systems.

Before entering Federal Civil Service in 2011, Hendrix served the Department of the Navy and was selected for the rank of Commander. His final position in the Navy was Director of Nuclear Maintenanc­e for the Atlantic Fleet Ballistic Missile Submarine Fleet where he was

responsibl­e for all intermedia­te and depot-level nuclear maintenanc­e on eight operationa­l nuclear power plants.

As a lieutenant commander, Hendrix was assigned to fill key politicall­y sensitive positions in Agana, Guam and La Maddelana, Italy, where he was in charge of maintenanc­e and repairs for deployed nuclear vessels in Europe, Africa, Asia, Indian Ocean and the Middle East. While filling those positions, he was also deployed to lead humanitari­an efforts in East Timor, Ghana, Gabon, Cameroon, Angola, Sao Tome, Senegal, and Congo. As a company grade officer, he served onboard the USS Frank Cable and USS Emory S. Land where he earned the Surface Warfare Officer Breast Insignia. Accounts Receivable ........
