Yuba County deputy to receive Medal of Valor

-

When two of his fellow deputies were wounded in an August 2017 shootout at an illegal marijuana grow site in Oregon House, Yuba County Deputy Dan Harris ran to their aid, ultimately pulling both men to safety during the gun battle.

For his actions that day, Harris will receive the California Governor’s Public Safety Officer Medal of Valor. The honor is the highest state award for valor presented to a public safety officer in the state.

A ceremony to recognize Harris is scheduled for Oct. 29 at the State Capitol inside the Governor’s Council Room starting at 11 a.m.
