Man convicted of 1997 murder to undergo resentencing trial
About 20 years after the death of Erik Ingebretsen, one of the men convicted of his murder is undergoing a resentencing trial to seek parole.
The hearing for Nathan Ramazzini, now 37, began Tuesday and is expected to conclude Friday, according to the Colusa County Superior Court website.
Ramazzini was sentenced in July 1998 to life in prison without the possibility of parole.
But Senate Bill 9, enacted in 2012, allows prisoners convicted as juveniles who have served at least 15 years of a life sentence to petition the court to be resentenced. The original sentencing court can decide if a lesser penalty is warranted.
The law only applies to convicts who were 18 or under at the time of sentencing.
