49ers volleyball sweeps Mendocino

Sutter cross country competes in last BVL meet before finals Nov. 1

The Yuba College volleyball team completed a three set sweep on Wednesday against Mendocino College. In front of their home crowd, the 49ers won by scores of 2624, 25-20 and 25-19.

“We had a slow start in the first and third sets, but I’m really proud of this group and how they battled back,” said head coach Greg Chapman.

Leading the way for Yuba was Heather Harness with an impressive stat line of eight kills, four digs and two aces.

Following Harness was teammate Jessica Taylor who finished the outing with seven kills and two blocks.

On the defensive side of the match, Connar Lopez led the 49ers with six digs to go along with her five aces.

Meanwhile Jasmine Taylor dished out 24 assists on the night to go with her two kills and two aces.

After last night’s win the 49ers now improve their record to 6-5 in conference and 7-11 overall.

In the BVC, the 49ers currently sit in fourth place.

Yuba College volleyball will now prepare for their next match at a home on Wednesday Oct. 31 against Napa. HIGH SCHOOL Cross Country In Orland – The Sutter cross country teams competed in their final Butte View League meet of the season on Wednesday. The meet was held around Black Butte Lake in Orland. The course included five kilometers of steep terrain for the runners.

The Huskies won both the varsity boys and varsity girls races as well as the junior varsity boys race.
