Speeders cited under this program can attend a class which requires active participation in the informative/interactive two-hour session. Students learn about braking distances, vehicle load dynamics, vehicle versus bicycle/pedestrians and collision prevention, according to a department press release. Drivers can choose to attend court or handle the citation traditionally, but the program offers an economical alternative.

Speeding is the primary cause of collisions in Yuba City and in 2016, accounted for 28 percent of injury collisions. For more information on the program, call the department at 822-4795.
