Seasons end for women’s fall sports

Soccer, volleyball win in road and home games

The Yuba college women’s soccer team wrapped up their season on the road with a 3-0 win over Napa Valley.

Monica Guzman scored the first goal of the match at the 55th minute of play. Monica Gonzalez scored two goals at the 63rd and 80th minute of play. Lissette Morales assisted on the first two goals while Shantal Alvarez assisted on the third.

The 49ers finished the season 10-7-2 overall and 7-4-1 in conference play. Coach Rene Villegas was pleased with the turnaround the team made this season after a down 2017 campaign. With nine returning freshmen and a good recruiting class coach Villegas is optimistic about the 49ers chances heading into next year.

VOLLEYBALL

The 49ers volleyball team finished out their season with a three set win over Marin on Friday night with set scores of 25-21, 25-23 and 25-20.

Yuba was led by Arrianna Salcido with ten kills and three blocks. Jessica Taylor also added ten kills and two blocks.

On defense, Connar Lopez recorded 11 digs and served up five aces. Meanwhile Jasmine Pamma dished out 25 assists while also contributi­ng eight digs. Hailey Strebel added three kills and five digs to the victory.

“It was a fun season, the team really came together in the second half of the season,” said head coach Greg Chapman.

The 49ers finished the year with an overall record of 10-11 and a conference record of 9-5.
