Different ways to donate to Camp Fire victims

- Appeal-democrat

Yuba-sutter residents looking to help the victims of the Camp Fire have a number of ways of donating. Local officials are updating their respective Facebook pages with immediate needs, but they say the best way for residents to pitch in is through monetary donations or through gift cards.

The following list will be updated as additional methods of donating are provided:

The Yuba-sutter Habitat for Humanity started a Camp Fire fund. Officials say all donations to the fund will be set aside to help Camp Fire evacuees with anything they need.

A link to the donation page can be found on Yuba County’s Facebook page (@ Yuba County).

New Earth Market is collecting gift cards and will deliver them to evacuation centers around the region.

Officials say gift cards are one of the best ways to donate because the evacuees can use them for what they need most.

To donate, drop off gift cards at the New Earth Market – 1475 Tharp Road, Yuba City.

The American Red Cross is collecting monetary donations to help victims of California’s wildfires.

To donate, go to the organization’s website – www.redcross.org – or call 1-800-RED-CROSS. Those that donate can pick a designation for the money. In this instance, they would need to input “California wildfires” when asked.

The United Way of Northern California established a relief fund to assist Camp Fire victims.

Donations through the Norcal Disaster Relief Fund will be used to provide emergency cash and other forms of emergency assistance to people who lost their homes in the fire, and to support the organization’s general disaster response as needs are further identified.

To donate, text “BUTTEFIRE” to 91999, or visit www.norcalunitedway.org and click the “donate” button.
