Two brothers were arrested Wednesday morning after allegedly attacking an employee of a Marysville tow yard.

Marysville police were called to the WAP Towing Yard in the 1500 block of B Street just before 9 a.m. for a physical fight involving several people, according to a department press release. When officers arrived, they found a 69-year-old man with visible injuries on his face.

The victim said that two men and two women came to the yard to try getting property out of their vehicle, which had been stored at the yard earlier that morning by Yubasutter California Highway Patrol. CHP said the vehicle had been stored there after a vehicle collision that morning.

One man did not show proof of ownership of the vehicle and became hostile toward the employee, according to the release, shouting profanities, demanding to get his property and attempting to enter the vehicle.

When the employee tried to stop the man from entering the vehicle, he was attacked. The victim, a military veteran, fought back to defend himself. The suspect’s 16-year-old brother then joined in and he and his 22-year-old brother, Charles Butler of Yuba City, told the victim they would return later to “take care” of him with a firearm, according to the release.

After investigating, Marysville police arrested Butler and his brother on suspicion of attempted robbery, battery, elder abuse and criminal threats. Butler was booked into Yuba County Jail and his brother into Bi-county Juvenile Hall.
