Live Oak soccer starts season with win

Live Oak will now prepare for Pierce who they will play at home on Thursday.

Wheatland 4, Marysville 2 In Linda – The rain caused the Indians to take to Yuba College for their season opener against the Pirates on Tuesday.

Though, the change of scenery didn’t help Marysville field a win, Anastacia Bancroft scored a goal that was assisted by Bryseida Camolinga.

Corrine Mathews gave the Indians their other goal of the night.

The Indians look to get a win as they participat­e in the Feather River Tournament in Oroville starting Thursday.

Colusa 5 - Williams 0 In Williams – It was an impressive start to

the season for the Colusa Redhawks girls soccer team as they posted a shutout road win over their county rival.

While Gisselle Espindola got things rolling with an early goal, the Redhawks would break the game open in the second half striking four times.

Darleny Juarez, Aiyana Garcia, Niche Juarez and Amber Morales each found the back of the net for the Redhawks while Jasmine Alvarez kept a clean sheet in goal.

Both teams are back in action on Thursday as Colusa (1-0) hosts Hamilton City, while Williams (0-1) travels to Esparto.

BOY’S SOCCER Marysville 8, Wheatland 0 In Marysville – The Indians’ soccer team got off to a hot start on Tuesday night as they defeated the Pirates by a final score of 8-0.

Leading the way for the Indians was Felix Santiago who recorded a hat trick as well William Towsend who added two goals of his own.

Marsyville will now gear up for their next game against Highlands on Thursday at 4 p.m. BOY’S BASKETBALL

Lindhurst 47, Faith Christian 40 In Olivehurst – The Blazers kicked off their season with a 47-40 win over Faith Christian on Tuesday.

Leading the way for Lindhurst was Jaliah Him with 11 points and Anthony Bragg with 10 points.

Despite the loss for the Crusaders, Nico Rodriguez contribute­d with 16 points in the game.

Lindhurst (1-0) will now prepare for their next game against Gridley at home on Thursday while Faith Christain (0-1) will play Esparto at home on Thursday. GIRL’S BASKETBALL Faith Christian 17,

Lindhurst 40 In Olivehurst – The Lions fell to the Blazers in their season opener on Tuesday afternoon.

Despite the loss coach Ben Carter is hopeful for the season.

“We’re still a young team, but I expect us to bounce back over the season,” Carter said. “I’m excited for the season.”

As for the Blazers, it was the duo of Jadelynn English and Makaili Pepper who each rebounded eight boards a piece in order to help their squad to the victory.

The Lions will play Esparto at home as a part of the Faith Christian Holiday Classic on Thursday. Vista Del Lago 56, River Valley 51 In Yuba City – The Falcons basketball team got off to a tough start on Wednesday falling 56-51.

Leading the way was Izzy Tionoco with 20 points and three steals.

Also contributi­ng to the stat line was Lauren Gilbert with eight points and five rebounds.

River Valley will now regroup and prepare for their next game against Ceres on Thursday.

Mt. Shasta 48, East Nicolaus 40 In Mt. Shasta – The Spartans got off to a tough start on Tuesday as they fell in a close one to Mt. Shasta, 48-40.

East Nicolaus was led by Hannah O’coonor with 21 points and Tiarra Caesar with six points.

The Spartans will now travel to Ipakanni Early College Charter on Thursday.

Wheatland 69, Golden Sierra 40 In Wheatland - The Pirates used their high powered offense to help them to a 69-40 win over Golden Sierra.

Leading the way was Logan Garza with 14 points, 12 rebounds and three blocks.

The Pirates will now prepare for the Colusa tournament on Thursday.
