NWS personnel from the Sacramento office forecast rain moving into the area about 4 a.m. and moving out about 4 p.m. today. Marysville’s annual parade starts at 5 p.m.

The NWS warned of possible travel delays in the mountains and slippery conditions in the foothills above the snow line. Across the Valley, they expect from 1/4 to 1 1/2 inches of rain and snow down to 3,500 feet in some areas.

In any case, parade attendees might want to put on some rain gear or take an umbrella.

Theme this year is “It’s a Superhero Christmas.” Marysville Police Chief Chris Sachs said it’s not just the fun, comic-book and movie superheroe­s being celebrated – it’s also a time to honor all the local heroes and there are plenty who have proven themselves with recent events, namely the Camp Fire.

There will be some Christmas preparatio­ns at the old Packard Library in Marysville at 301 Fourth St., before the tree lighting ceremony at 4 p.m. at the corner of Third and D streets. The parade starts at 5 p.m. at the corner of Sixth and D streets in Marysville historic downtown neighborho­od.

Following the parade, children can meet Santa near the town Christmas tree. There will also be carolers wandering the area.

This year’s grand marshal is Marsha Krause-taylor of Casa de Esperanza. Sachs reported that about 70 entries are signed up for the parade. starts at 5 p.m. at the museum at 1333 Butte House Road in Yuba City. Arrange for tickets by calling 822-7141. Some tickets will be available at the door.

Visitors will find a huge decorated Christmas tree and the museum decorated with geenery. There will be food, drinks and live music and visitors can peruse the museum displays. Featured will be Jonathan Karrant, whose new album has topped the itunes and Billboard jazz charts.
