Weather to share in good cheer during holiday events
This weekend will be busy with holiday events and forecasters predict the weather will cooperate.
The National Weather Service reported it expects the weekend to be dry in Yuba-sutter; the next storm system will come through Sunday evening.
“It should be dry until Sunday evening,” said Idamis Del Zalle, meteorologist with the NWS. “That’s when we’re expecting any additional systems.”
Beginning Sunday evening, there is a possibility of up to half an inch of rainfall in the valleys, foothills and burn scar areas, and the possibility of snow in higher elevations, according to the NWS.
Del Zalle said the high temperature for the next few days is expected to be in the mid-50s. The low temperature for today and Friday is expected to be in the low 30s, Saturday is expected to be in the mid-30s and Sunday in the upper 30s.
For the next couple of mornings, there is also the possibility of fog.
“We advise people to slow down and leave early for the morning commute,” Del Zalle said.
There are a number of events taking place over the weekend, including the Wheatland Tree Lighting and Street Fair on Friday at 5 p.m., at 400 Front St., Wheatland; the Olivehurst Christmas Parade at 11 a.m., Saturday on Olivehurst Avenue, Olivehurst; and the Yuba City Christmas Stroll on Saturday 2 p.m.-9 p.m. on Plumas Street, Yuba City.

Stand As 1 – Open Mic. Yuba Sutter Arts will feature poets, writers and other presenters and opportunities for audience participation from 6:30 p.m.8:30 p.m. at The Gallery at Yuba Sutter Arts, 624 E Street, Marysville.
