What’s the latest on Demarcus Cousins?

- By Mark Medina Mercury News (TNS)

SACRAMENTO – This could have been a homecoming for Demarcus Cousins. The Warriors’ newest Allstar could have sought revenge for the Kings franchise after trading him two seasons ago to the New Orleans Pelicans. Cousins could have sought affection by reconnecting with the fans he entertained off the court and the ones that he helped in the community.

Instead, the Warriors (19-10) enter Friday’s game against the Sacramento Kings (15-12) with Cousins still needing to rehab his left Achilles tendon. He has not had any reported setbacks after completing two full-court practices this week with the Warriors’ Gleague team in Santa Cruz. But given the severity of an Achilles injury, the Warriors are still pleading patience.

Brown with 16 points.

The Indians JV team (62) will be back in action today when they take on Bradshaw Christian. Lincoln (Stockton) 58,

River Valley 55 (OT) In Rosemont – The Falcons fell in a tough way on Friday as Lincoln bested them in overtime.

Despite the loss, the Falcons were able to see great play from Jude Guerrero with 17 points.

River Valley JV (5-4) will await to see whom they play in the third place game today at noon. VARSITY (Thursday) Eureka 78, Sutter 39 In Eureka – The Huskies fell to Eureka on Thursday as they struggled to recover from the long road trip.

Despite the loss, Sutter had standout performances from Ayden Hursky with 13 points and 10 rebounds and Irvin Raju with eight points and five rebounds.

(Friday) Sutter 61, Stellar Prep 47 In Eureka – Sutter bounced back on Friday and was able to beat a very athletic squad in Stellar Prep.

Led by the defensive play of Ryan Zerkovich with nine steals, Ayden Hursky also pitched in with 12 points of offense.

Sutter will be back in action today when they take on Arcadia at 11:30 a.m. Lindhurst 62, Leroy Green 42

In Carmichael – The Blazers bounced back on Friday night as they took down Leroy Green by a 20-point differential.

98 yards for a fourth-quarter touchdown.

In the Seahawks’ Monday night win over the Vikings, Wagner controversially blocked a field goal to key their 21-7 win.

“He’s impacting the game so many ways,” Sherman said. “He’s blocking field goals. He returned a pick 98 yards – and he looked kind of fat and didn’t have a neck, but that’s a different story. The guys is all over the field, makes a ton of tackles.”

Offensive savvy. Add Mullens’ 414 yards against the Seahawks and his 332 total in Sunday’s win over the Broncos and those 746 yards are the most by a 49ers quarterback in consecutive games since Steve Young’s 761 yards in 1995.

“I understand that stats don’t matter, points do,” Mullens said.

Therefore, it should be surprise that plenty questions for the latest Warriors’ mailbag dives into Cousins’ recovery. Before we get to those questions in the latest Warriors mailbag, Bay Area News Group’s Logan Murdock has a cheat sheet on the Warriors-kings game on Friday. I dove into what the Warriors’ sense on what keeps their defense from becoming consistent, and the reasons go beyond Draymond Green sitting for 13 games this season. I explain why veterans Shaun Livingston and Cousins are encouraged with third-year center Damian Jones keeping a positive attitude about his season-ending injury. Lastly, I spoke with Warriors assistant coach Mike Brown in the latest Warriors HQ podcast about Draymond, KD, if he ever wants to be a head coach, living in the Bay Area and more.

Lindhurst was led by Zack Massey who had 19 points in the first quarter and 26 points total.

The Blazers (5-4) will play in the third place game today against Stockton Christian at 12:30 p.m. in the Victory Christian Tournament. Colusa 52, Williams 51 In Colusa – Down 4532 at the start of the fourth quarter the Redhawks battled back to regain the lead with 24 seconds remaining in the game then applied enough defensive pressure to prevent a last second shot and steal the win from their cross town rival at the Raczniak Tournament.

Conner Saso led the Redhawks with 21 points while Lamsiah added eight, four of which came in the fourth quarter.

Carlos Gonzalez had a team high 14 points for Williams who got an additional 13 from Anthony Davalos.

Colusa plays for the consolation championship against Yreka today at 3:30 Now to the mailbag…. “Do you think that some of the Warriors’ issues stem from Durant not being more positive about wanting to stay with the team? I believe he is holding the team hostage and is screwing with their minds. Draymond questioned him during their blowup, but that went no where. I blame KD for the Warriors being off their game. What do think?” – bnky749@yahoo. com

Honestly, I could not disagree more. Sure, the Warriors may not like that Durant has not stated whether he wants to stay with the Warriors or not. After Durant won two NBA championships and two Finals MVP’S, I’d understand if his teammates wondered, ‘What’s there to decide?’ Draymond certainly wondered that to an extent, or else he wouldn’t have called Durant out along with a string of expletives.

p.m. while Williams will face Gridley at 1:30 p.m. West Campus 69, River Valley 56 In Yuba City – The Falcons fell to West Campus on Friday at the Mel Good Tournament.

Sergio Garcia led the way with 20 points and seven rebounds while Puneet Bains also chipped in with 16 points and seven rebounds.

River Valley will hit the court again today when they take on Leadership Academy (S.F.) at 1 p.m. Marysville 60, Pierce 49 In Colusa – The Indians withstood a late charge by the Bears to advance to the championship round of the 38th Annual Georgia Raczniak Tournament in Colusa.

Marysville will play in the championship game of the Colusa tournament.
