LOCAL ROUNDUP Lindhurst girls edge out Foothill 41-39

Yuba fights back in 75-54 win over Napa

The Lindhurst Blazers girl’s varsity basketball team was able to sneak out a win against Foothill on Wednesday night at home as they won by a final score of 41-39.

Leading the Blazers to victory was Jadelyn English with 11 points and seven rebounds while Karena Brito scored seven points and grabbed seven boards.

Also contributi­ng in the win was Makaili Pepper with nine rebounds.

Lindhurst (3-12, 2-1) will now host Colfax on Friday.

COLLEGE MEN’S BASKETBALL Yuba 75, Napa 54

In Napa – The 49ers basketball team was able to come away with a solid road victory on Wednesday despite going down early.

“They jumped on us and went up 14-2 early, luckily our defense woke up and we were able to get back in the game by holding them to six points in 16 minutes,” said 49ers head coach Doug Cornelius.

Leading the way for Yuba in the win was Cornell Greenwood with 26 points, nine re-

bounds and five assists. Also contributi­ng were Isaiah Bates with 13 points and Stevie James with eight points.

Yuba College basketball will look to keep up the good work when they host Contra Costa on Friday for a first place showdown. Tip-off is at 7:30 p.m.

HIGH SCHOOL GIRL’S BASKETBALL

Junior Varsity Bear River 69, Marysville 61

In Marysville – The Indians JV team fell in a tough battle on Wednesday night at home to Bear River.

Leading Bear River to the victory was Grace Mcdaniels with 31 points. As for the Indians, Mercedes Yang led her team with 21 points while Katen Johnson also contribute­d with 20 points.

“It was a good game despite the outcome, we can’t wait to face them again later on this season,” said Indians JV coach, Keith Carlson.

Marysville JV (8-13, 2-1) will head to Foothill on Friday.

Varsity Antelope 78, River Valley 41

In Yuba City – The Falcons fell in a rough game at home on Wednesday night to Antelope.

Despite the loss, River Valley saw solid performanc­es from Izzy Tinoco with nine points and Harleen Matu with eight points.

River Valley (11-10, 2-4) will play Tuesday at home when they face cross-town rival Yuba City. BOY’S BASKETBALL East Nicolaus 69,

Hamilton 49 In East Nicolaus – The Spartans boy’s basketball team was able to secure a home victory on Wednesday as they defeated Hamilton by a 20-point margin.

Leading the way for East Nicolaus was David Earhart with 28 points and 10 rebounds while Gavin Mcauliff contribute­d with 12 points and seven rebounds.

Also pitching in for the Spartans was Mason Zarges with 11 points and Weston Dunbar with nine points and five assists.

East Nicolaus (6-11, 1-1) will play at Williams on Friday.

GIRL’S SOCCER Marysville 8, Foothill 0 At Foothill – The Indians girls soccer team came away with a resounding victory on Wednesday despite the rainy conditions on the field.

Making history in the win was Anastacia Bancroft who’s four goals gave her a career total of 102, making her the leading scorer in Marysville’s history.

Other contributo­rs were Bryseida Camolinga with two goals, Amelia Adamson with one goal and Corrine Matthews with one goal.

Marysville (6-6, 2-1) will take the pitch on Monday when they play at home vs. Center. WRESTLING Yuba City In Yuba City – Both the boys and girls varsity wrestling teams for the Honkers came away with wins on Wednesday night (B: 48-24, G: 78-6).

Notable matches for the varsity teams came from Melissa Tejada and Karina Ramirez with wins by pin.

As for the junior varsity matches, Miles Small won by pin while Duane Balfour won by major decision.

Yuba City wrestling (10-2) will now prepare for the Placer Duels at Placer High School.
