The River Valley football program will be sending three players to the 61st annual Optimist All-star football game at Hornet Field on the campus of Sacramento State.

Dawson Mcpeak, Enrique Correa and Dean Rice will all represent the Falcons in the game this Saturday, Jan. 19.

“They deserve everything that they’ve gotten thus far. They’re some of the hardest working young men on and off the field and I’m really proud of them,” said River Valley coach, Brennan Mcfadden.

The game consists of players from around the Sacramento area and will be played between two allstars teams: North vs. South.

Mcpeak talked about how much it means to be chosen as a player in this kind of game.

“It means a lot to even be considered for this sort of thing. We’ve all worked really hard and it’ll be cool to put the pads on with my brothers one last time,” said Mcpeak, a Northern Arizona commit.

This season Mcpeak was able to put up some impressive numbers, including 27 passing touchdowns, 130 completions and a passer rating of 124.1

As for Correa, he tallied a total of 38 tackles while Rice was able to notch 13 solo tackles this season.

The Optimist All-star Game isn’t just a chance to showcase talent in the area, it also benefits charity. Tickets can be purchased for $10 and proceeds will go towards Camp Ross Relles and Ben Ali Shriners.

Kick off at Hornet Field is set for this Saturday, Jan. 19, at 1 p.m.
