Sawyer’s Sweet Spot tastes sweet success

A relatively new Yuba City business is enjoying sweet success and recently was awarded for its efforts.

Sawyer’s Sweet Spot, owned by Richard Rummelhart and Cameo Arrasmith, was honored by the Yuba-sutter Chamber of Commerce during their annual gala earlier this month in Colusa.

“We are so proud to be part of the amazing business community in the Yuba-sutter area,” Rummelhart said. “To receive the award from the chamber is so special because the Yuba-sutter Chamber has been instrumental in giving our business such great early recognition, starting with the ribbon cutting we did for our grand opening.”

Born out of the loss of a loved one to cancer, the business honors their son, Sawyer, and gives back to cancer research.

“Our store is named after our son, Sawyer, who passed away from cancer at the age of nine. We wanted to be able to find a way to honor his legacy and remember his smiles and happiness even through his entire cancer treatment,” Rummelhart said. “We also feel it’s important that we give back, both to the local community and charities we came across through our journey with Sawyer, so we created a motto: ‘Funding a Cause. Every. Single. Day.’”

Rummelhart said a portion of sales goes to organizations involved in cancer research.

“We operate three stores in total: the original Plumas Street location, a small store in the Yuba Sutter Mall and our newest location in Woodland,” he said. “Right now, our goal is to continue refining operations in those stores and create more unique events in 2019 designed to attract families to come on out and have a fun afternoon or evening together.”
