Marysville boys take down Bear River 72-52

Yuba men’s basketball defeats Solano 80-60

The Marysville Indians varsity boy’s basketball team was able to secure a 72-52 win on Wednesday when they defeated Bear River.

Leading the way for the Indians was Illyaas Rafiq with 29 points including six 3-pointers. Also chipping in on the offensive side of the ball was Blake Clavelle with 17 points and Kameron Klein with 13 points and 11 rebounds.

“We weren’t completely where we wanted to be at half, but we were able to lock in defensivel­y and shut things down, so overall I’m really happy with our effort there down the stretch,” said Marysville head coach Stan Easter.

Marysville (18-7, 5-2) will now prepare for their senior night game against rival Lindhurst on Friday night at home. In East Nicolaus - The Lady Spartans were able to glide past Williams on Wednesday as they used their elusive offense to go off for a total of 62 points.

Tiara Ceasar led the varsity squad with 14 points and seven rebounds as Hannah O’connor pitched in with eight points and four rebounds.

As for the junior varsity game, East Nicolaus also came out victorious with a 44-15 win over Williams.

Leading the JV squad was Remington Hewitt with 16 points and nine rebounds.

Both East Nicolaus junior varsity (16-2, 5-0) and varsity (12-10, 2-4) will play at Durham on Friday. BOYS BASKETBALL

Freshmen Inderkum 63, River Valley 57

In Yuba City - The Falcons freshmen boy’s team came up just short when they took on league for Inderkum on Wednesday at home.

The Falcons were led by Brady Chipchase with 17 points and Collin Totman with nine points.

The River Valley freshmen team (5-4 in league) will play at Bella Vista on Friday. Marysville 61, Bear River 48

In Marysville – The Indians freshmen squad was able to seal the deal on Wednesday when they defeated Bear River by a 13-point margin.

The Indians were led by Jaxon Finley and Christian Perry who each tallied 12 points on the scoring affair.

The Marysville freshmen team (9-10, 2-3) will play Center at home on Feb. 8.

Junior Varsity Yuba City 68, Bella Vista 63

In Yuba City – The Honkers junior varsity team was able to squeeze out a victory on Wednesday when they faced off against Bella Vista.

Leading the way for Yuba City was Matt Biggins with 18 points and Mason Lomeli with 13 points. Antonio Henry also contribute­d with 11 points.

Yuba City will play at home against Roseville on Friday. Inderkum 57, River Valley 48

In Yuba City – The Falcons were able to see some solid performanc­es from their players despite a tough loss on Wednesday.

Leading the was was Jude Guerrero with 15 points, Riki Lally with 10 points and Rogelio Solorzano with 10 points.

“It was a good effort we just came up short in the end,” said River Valley coach Diego Escutia.

River Valley JV (13-11, 3-4) will play at Bella Vista on Friday. Marysville 66, Bear River 31

In Marysville – The Indians junior varsity team was able to beat Bear River by a hefty margin on Wednesday night.

The Indians were led by Collin Deal with 16 points and Devon Conway with 15 points.

Marysville JV (18-5, 7-1) will play Lindhurst on Friday at home for senior night.

Varsity River Valley 77, Inderkum 55

In Yuba City – The Falcons were able to secure a solid victory on Wednesday night as they routed Inderkum by 22 points. The win gives River Valley sole possession of second place in their league.
