TODAY EVENTS Black History Month at Yuba Sutter Arts will be celebrated from 1 p.m.3 p.m. at the Lee Burrows Theater, 630 E St., Marysville. Yuba Sutter Arts will host a tribute that shows the many diverse ways African and African-american’s have contributed and influenced literature, music of different genres and various styles of dance. There will also be an “open mic” and performances by Bethel AME Church.
“Ever After – a Musical” produced by The Acting Company’s Magic Theater. Snow White, the Evil Queen, Cinderella and her stepsisters are portrayed in this TV show parody. 1 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. at The Acting Company, 815 B St., Yuba City. Tickets cost between $5-$10.
The Wheatland History Museum is open on the first and third Saturday of each month from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Admission is free and donations are accepted. Items in the museum reflect the history of the Wheatland and local area.
Yuba-sutter Winter Pow Wow & Benefit for James Graham and Lucky Preston, Paradise fire victims from noon-6 p.m. at the Marysville Youth and Community Center, 1830 B St., Marysville. The free event is open to the community and is an American Indian cultural/social event with dances, vendors and food. Attendees who bring a gift card or household item for James Graham and/or Lucky Preston will receive a raffle ticket for a prize.
The Yuba-sutter Children’s Type 1 Diabetes Support and Resource Center is celebrating its 14th year helping diabetics in the community. The Bowl Over Diabetes Fundraiser will take place from 7 p.m.-9 p.m. at Nu Generation Lanes, 876 W. Onstott Road, Yuba City. Proceeds from the event will stay locally to help Type 1 and Type 2 diabetics in the community, such as free diabetes educational classes, health and nutritional resources, diabetes camp and more.

Yuba Sutter Arts is having an art reception for Jonathan Beth Art & Photography from 5 p.m.-7 p.m. at The Brick Coffee House and Café, 316 D St., Marysville. The event will include a jazz band and refreshments.
The Community Memorial Museum of Sutter County, Marysville Japanese American Citizens League and Yuba College Crossing Borders Building Bridges commemorate the Day of Remembrance 2019. The video “Mr. Tanimoto’s Journey” introduced by Dr. Will Nitzky of CSU Chico, and Jim Tanimoto. Tanimoto, a resident of Gridley, is the last living member of the group of men, known in Tule Lake as Block 42, who protested the internment of Japanese Americans. The video “Searchlight Serenade” introduced by Roy Hatamiya of Yuba City. The video, produced by PBS North Coast, details the experience of Japanese American musicians during WWII. As a teenager incarcerated at Tule Lake, Hatamiya played trumpet with the Down Beats and the Moonlight Serenaders. The U.S. Post Office will be on hand with the second of three special cancellations. CLUB MEETINGS The Marysville-yuba City branch of University Women will hold its monthly meeting at the Adventist/rideout Conference Center, 989 Plumas St., Yuba City.
