Local teens suspected in Idaho murder
Two teenagers held for extradition in slaying of 87-year-old
Two Marysville teens wanted for murder in Idaho were arrested during a traffic stop Wednesday night.
Yuba County sheriff’s deputies were in Olivehurst searching for the two for an incident involving criminal threats. They spotted their vehicle just before midnight, according to a department press release.
Deputies were already aware that the teens – 18-year-old Dustin G. Alfaro, and an unidentified 17-yearold boy – were also wanted for the murder of 87-year-old Arlyne Koehler inside her Pocatello, Idaho, home. Her body was found by a relative Tuesday.
Fire officials believe the cause of the ignition came from a truck parked inside the garage with its heaters running to burn off the butane from the numerous jars filled with the butane and marijuana extract mixture. The men also allegedly used expensive Bhogart ovens – industrial vacuum ovens usually used in science and research – to remove butane solvent and turn it into the waxy, finished substance. Deputies pulled out tubs packed with marijuana buds, tanks of butane gas, and tubs filled with dry ice (also used in the extraction process). After the explosion, witnesses saw the pair flee, later offering passersby $100 to drive them to Roseville.
