Sutter softball wins back-to-back games

Yuba College baseball bests Contra Costa, 11-6

The Sutter softball team won two games on Friday as they defeated Rio Linda by a final score of 6-0 and Central Valley by a final score of 12-2.

In game one vs. Rio Linda, Hailey Peterson struck out 12 batters, allowed two hits, and gave up zero runs.

On offense, the Huskies relied on the play of Reagan Ford, who went 3-for-3 with two RBI. Also contributi­ng was Meadow Topete, who hit a triple.

In game two vs. Central Valley, Sutter was led by Peterson yet again, as she struck out 10 batters while also going 2-for-3 with a triple. Assisting Peterson in the stat line was Darcy Gillen, who went 2-for-3 with four RBI and a triple.

Sutter softball (4-2) will play today against Willows at 11 a.m.

BASEBALL St. Bernard’s 9, Willows 5 In Willows – The Honkers fell just shy of a victory on Thursday as they fell by a tough four-run margin to St. Bernard’s.

Despite the loss, Willows saw some great plays from a few of their players in the lineup.

Colby Stilwell was able to shakeoff a tough stretch on the mound and hit a home run in the third inning, while Leslee Dalrymple went 2-for-2 on the day with two RBI.

TENNIS Bear River 7, Marysville 2 In Marysville – The Indians tennis team fell to Bear River on Thursday by a five point margin, despite some valiant effort put forth by multiple players.

Winners on the day were Angelie Xiong (7-5, 6-7, 6-4) and the doubles paring of Seth Rice and Crystal Xiong (7-6, 6-0).

Marysville tennis (03) will host Lindhurst on Tuesday at 4 p.m.

Sutter 6, Orland 3

In Orland – The Huskies tennis team traveled to Orland on Thursday and came out on top with a three– point margin victory.

Notable performanc­es in singles came from Peston Hastings (6-4, 6-1), Justin Navarro (6-3, 6-2) and Will Hines (6-1, 6-1).

In doubles, the team of Hastings and Hayden Flannery won 8-1. TRACK AND FIELD

River Valley In Linda – The Falcons track team races on over to Yuba College on Thursday to compete at the John Orognen Invite. The following were the team’s result from the day. Boys first place finishers: John Kroeger, first in the 100m, 11.30 and second in the 200m, 23.12

David Kyambadde, first in the high jump, 5’10”

Abhishek Singh, first in the long jump, 19’10”

Honorable mentions: Josiah Mcmenamy, sixth in the 100m (11.91) and the 200m (24.20)

baseball team hosted Contra Costa on Thursday in what proved to be an offensive showdown. Luckily for the home team, the Niners were able to take the victory by a five–run margin.

The 49ers offense was led by Darius Foster and Andrew Shaw who each tallied two RBI and two hits.

Another stand out performanc­e came from Conner Rudy who went 2-for-3 with two runs scored.

The 49ers baseball team (11-11, 4-4) will play at Contra Costa today at 1 p.m.
