Thompson calls out the Dubs’ haters

- By Michael Nowels The Mercury News (TNS)

Klay Thompson is a confident man.

Vegas is giving the Warriors just 13-1 odds to win the NBA championship next season without new Net Kevin Durant, and some don’t even believe they’ll make the postseason.

Some prognosticators have said Durant’s departure and Thompson’s ACL injury spell the end of the Warriors’ dominant run. But Thompson is not among them.

“I think that’s a little premature to say there’s no more dynasty,” Thompson said in an interview clip that aired on ESPN’S The Jump Thursday afternoon.

“I mean, we still have Stephen Curry, two-time MVP, Draymond Green, defensive player of the year. Adding D’angelo Russell was an incredible get for us. I mean, that kid’s going to blossom into a superstar in this league.”

Russell was an All-star last season in Brooklyn, but once Thompson returns from injury he may be relegated to the bench, unless Thompson knows something we don’t about a threeguard starting lineup.

Speaking of his return to the floor, Thompson’s also confident about that.

“To say the dynasty is over I think is a little ignorant ’cause I think I’m going to come back 110 percent, “I think I’m going to come back even better and more athletic and it would not be smart to count the Dubs out. That’s what I’m going to tell people.” Hear that? He just told you. All indications are that Thompson will be out until at least after the All-star break, but if this interview is any indication, he’ll be returning with a fire in his belly.
