Raiders' Lawson says he’s facing four-game suspension
NAPA – Cornerback Nevin Lawson, signed as a unrestricted free agent in the off-season, announced on Twitter Monday night he will be suspended for the first four games of the season for being in violation of the NFL policy on performance enhancing drugs.
Lawson, 28, signed a one-year deal with the Raiders on March 20 worth up to $3.05 million and with $1.55 million guaranteed after spending his first five seasons with the Detroit Lions. Although he has no career interceptions, Lawson started 54 of his last 55 games with the Lions.
A Raiders official said the club had no comment.
On the Raiders’ first depth chart released Monday in advance of their exhibition opener against the Los Angeles Rams, Lawson was listed as the No. 3 left cornerback behind Daryl Worley and Trayvon Mullen, the second-round draft pick out of Clemson.
At right cornerback, Gareon Conley is the starter, followed by Nick Nelson and rookie fourthround pick Isaiah Johnson.
According the the web site proteinfactory.com, Ostarine “has shown to considerably improve lean muscle mass and physical performance. It also shows increases in tendon ability, bone strength, ligament health and collagen turn-over.”
Lawson said in his Twitter statement he did not knowingly take the drug, but is responsible for what he puts in his body and apologized to his teammates, fans and the Raiders organization. He can participate in training camp and preseason games but must leave the team before the opener and will forfeit the first four weeks of his salary.
