KIWANIS CLUB

-

If the lightning and thunder storm during the Installation of Ms. Sondra Harrison as our new President was anything, it was a portend of one heck of an “Electric Year” for the Kiwanis Club of Yuba. With a Luau theme, colorfully arrayed Kiwanians braved the storm, adapted and overcame the elements for a great party attended by Kiwanians from Early Risers and the Supper Club, as well as our own Kiwanis Club of Yuba City.

We said adieu to past president Joe Bettencourt and welcomed not only Sondra and her fiance’ Eric Mallow, but the incoming Board, new Vice President, District Lt. Governor, Presidents and Past Presidents from our Sister Clubs.

It looks to be a dynamic, and impressive year with Sondra having plans to change things up a bit. We are looking forward to her great year and thank Joe for his leadership this past year.

A huge thanks to Marie Teria, Char Roberto, Terri Boyer, and their families, Daria Ali, Louise Graham, Linda Evans, Mickie Sakaruda and Key Clubbers and the fantastic Polines Island Dance Troupe for getting us up and dancing Polynesian Style. Never has so many hips moved so awkwardly, but enthusiastically, to the great music and vibe.

Charlie Vigiani as MC did a stellar job while holding an electric mic in the lightening storm. Some of those honored by President Joe included: Kiwanian of the Year Pete Klempau; Rookie of the Year Brandon Barnes, and Marie Teria with a brand new Award :”Annual Dedication”towel”. Sharen Cornils, Pete Klempau, Char Roberto and Sondra Harrison received Outstanding Service Award. Joe Bettencourt received the Outstanding President Award.

Lt. Gov. Piara Johl inducted the incoming Board Members, Wade Kirtchner, Daria Ali, Brandon Barnes and Linda Evans who join current members, Peter Klempau, Malkit Johl, Tej Maan, Tom Moratto, Stan Cleveland and Leann Hinz.

New Officers Inducted by Mr. Johl were, President, Sondra Harrison, President Elect Char Roberto, Vice President Tej Maan, Treasurer Dennis Hinz, Corresponding Secretary Marie Teria, and Fiscal Secretary Linda Booth.
